As a sexology professor of midwifery and general practice, I have the privilege of shaping the future of healthcare professionals. I am dedicated to imparting knowledge, fostering critical thinking, and nurturing compassionate and patient-centered care. I equip midwife students with the skills to support women and families during pregnancy and childbirth, while emphasizing a patient-centered approach and strong communication skills for general practitioner students. In my classes, I explore the multidimensional aspects of reproductive and sexual health, recognizing the importance of sexual well-being in overall health. Through research and scholarship, I stay up-to-date with advancements in the field and share valuable insights with my students. By integrating sexology into my teaching, I empower students to approach their future practice with sensitivity and knowledge of sexual health-related concerns. Ultimately, I aim to prepare skilled and compassionate healthcare professionals who can provide high-quality, patient-centered care across the spectrum of reproductive, sexual, and general health.
In addition, I am deeply committed to advancing the field of sexology through active participation in research initiatives. I wholeheartedly support the evolution of scientific understanding in this domain. To contribute to this progress, I offer free guidance to students undertaking research projects, providing assistance in writing various works, such as theses and dissertations. By nurturing and supporting the next generation of sexology researchers, I hope to foster innovation and contribute to the growth of knowledge in the field.
Driven by a profound dedication and enthusiasm, I strive to make a positive impact on individuals’ lives, guiding them on their personal journeys towards fulfilling sexual and relationship experiences. Through awareness raising, scientific advancement, and support for students and researchers, I aspire to create a society where sexual well-being is valued, understood, and openly discussed. Together, we can work towards a world where everyone has the opportunity to cultivate satisfying and meaningful relationships, leading to greater overall happiness and fulfillment.
Another central aspect of my mission is to raise awareness about the significance of sexual and relationship matters as common and legitimate topics that warrant attention and support. Through various media platforms, including journals, TV, and the internet, I aim to foster an open and inclusive dialogue. By sharing knowledge through podcasts, interviews, and other channels, I am committed to breaking down societal taboos and eradicating judgments associated with these vital facets of the human experience. Simultaneously, I am equally determined to caution against politically correct stances adopted by institutions that manipulate important issues through positive discrimination for their own gain. I strive to empower individuals to confidently seek professional help, unburdened by concerns about stigma or criticism, in order to access what rightfully belongs to them. This is accomplished by harmonizing their sense of rights with the equally crucial sense of duty, thus enabling them to become fulfilled, empowered, and responsible individuals.
Finally, being Luxembourgish and raised in Luxembourg, with a blend of Luxembourgish- and French-speaking family backgrounds, I’m fortunate to be proficient in four languages: Luxembourgish, French, German, and English. This linguistic diversity allows me to navigate the intricate tapestry of languages we encounter daily in our country quite easily. As a result, I am well-equipped to support multilingual couples that are (almost!) prevalent in our cosmopolitan nation and Luxembourg’s capital.
